The ultimate vegan camping festival is happening in June 2020 – VFest UK. This brand new event features exciting headline acts, challenging outdoor activities, family entertainment, fun shows, international speakers, stalls, global food caterers and much more, including TV Chef Matt Pritchard, Guiness World Record Holder Fiona Oakes and Extinction Rebellion Co-Founder Roger Hallam…
VFest UK runs for three fun-filled days from Friday 26th June 2020 to Sunday 28th June 2020, at Dinton Pastures Country Park, an idyllic oasis of woodland, meadow and lakes near Reading, Wokingham and Bracknell.
The event features a main stage with a huge line up of exciting headline acts including the legendary vegan reggae artist, Macka B. Famous vegan TV chef, Matt Pritchard, host of the BBC's first vegan cookery show, Dirty Vegan, will be doing two cookery demos, Q & A's and and book signings.
Vegan DJ, Lizzie Curious will be hosting a Rise and Shine set which is a morning rave to the sunrise, an evening DJ set and a Wind Down Chill out set, and Guinness World Record holder, Fiona Oakes will be giving an exciting talk. Fiona Oakes is a British distance runner who holds four world records for marathon running. In 2013, she won both the Antarctic Ice Marathon and the North Pole Marathon. She runs despite losing a kneecap from an illness when she was 17. Oakes has been vegan since she was 6 years old.
Juliet Gellatley founder of national charity Viva! will be giving a talk and Vegan Chef, Day Radley, founder of The Vegan Chef School, will be hosting a Vegan sushi cookery demo.
Challenge 22 will be giving a talk directed at those who have been vegan for at least 6 months, to encourage vegans to get active and support new or transitioning vegans through a 22 day Challenge.
And 16 year old Nathan Widdowson will be speaking about how plant based diets can be used to fight climate and ecological breakdown, covering the role of animal agriculture in accelerating the climate crisis, how veganism can be used to slow and adapt to ecological breakdown, the advantages of people switching to plant based diets in a post climate change world and why animal agriculture may collapse in the future because it is so unsustainable.
There will be entertaining shows for all the family including fire shows and performers such as Mobius Loop – a fusion of gypsy folk stories, world music, conscious rap and free-form dance.
Extinction Rebellion Co-Founder, Roger Hallam, will be discussing environmental and conservation issues; Frances Emerony from Borneo will be discussing animal welfare issues around the world; Catherine Mulhall, a pharmacist with a holistic view of health and healthcare will be giving a talk; and a leading speaker from Greenpeace will be discussing plastic-free and zero waste lifestyles, saving our declining bee population and palm oil.
The festival features yoga classes, a club night, and circus skills workshops. Outdoor activities so far confirmed are an assault course, zip wire, climbing wall and boating on the lake.
The food is set to be spectacular and varied, with a cornucopia of delicious vegan world food dishes to choose from. There will also be an on-site bar with a wonderful choice of vegan alcohol, as well as non alcoholic drinks, juices, smoothies, tea and coffee.
Festival organiser, Victoria Bryceson comments, “We started VFest UK because we love our existing vegan events but these generally focus on helping people to take the first steps to going vegan. We wanted to run an event with more of an aim of helping people look at the next steps to being vegan, i.e. looking after your fitness and helping the environment. Veganism is such a wonderful way of living that we really wanted to celebrate this and a huge weekend party seems like the perfect way to do this.”
Victoria continues, “We are also proud that our festival is 100% vegan, palm oil free and single use plastic free.”
Avoiding animal cruelty and caring for our fellow animals is at the centre of this event, where dogs are very welcome and owners are asked to only bring their dog if they will enjoy the event.
Visitors can bring their own tent to three specially designated camping areas: Standard Camping, Family Camping (families do not have to camp here) and Quiet Camping (this area will be away from the main stage and entertainment).
